these cards look drab, they are being compared in most YouTube channels against RTX when they should be comparing to the Nvidia gtx1660ti, AMD need to launch a more powerful card, this is really poor, they are now two generations behind Nvidia and leaves us all paying way too much for GFX hardware

These navi gpus doesnt even have ray tracing but cost same as the rtx 2060 and rtx 270 I think without rt cores rtx 2070 will cost 350$ because ray tracing is very demanding and expensive technology

Navi will fail, too expensive. I got a Vega 56 for a few £ I guess that I'm fine for 2 years without buying a new card.
velezf216o 23 June 2019 23:24
But the new Xbox is gonna have 8k and 120fps! And that’s better than rtx...

Also looking at this chip it seem to be optimized for very little prefetching ( I would turn it off in the os )

Concerning the l1 cache , it’s not your normal 8 way it’s more like 7+1 way ! At least it seem to be what is goin on also remember guys Memory and io are at 12 nm only the 2 chip are at 7 nm ! From what I saw ? Both should be about same thermal value or close enough ! I like what amd did !

Ahhh idk what to get my 290x has served me well but it's time to upgrade before cyberpunk 2077 comes out I want something that will still be decent in 4-5 yrs as my xfx 290x has been. I still have time 1yr, hopefully price drops.

Here's hoping that the 202 delay for the bigger Navi 20 was so they can implement ray-tracing like they are doing for next gen consoles.

ps and xbox will have ray tracing and use amd, so game devs will start using it and amd card might get it in a year or two.
Silverfox 19 June 2019 10:50
Considering 7nm I would have expected Navi to draw less or at least equal power to Nvidias 12nm crads.

TheAlienwaredude 16 June 2019 17:36
They could at least have given the XT 16GB, 8GB isent enough. Another question: Is the navi worth waiting for or should one go for the Radeon VII?? Answers are much appreciated xD
forestR1 16 June 2019 13:06
Compete with 2070? A good VEGA64 can maybe punch on with a 2070, half of the time, and it has 13TF of compute power. If NAVI is going to compete with 9.75TF they better be doing something very special. I like AMD but they are never shy of over promising.

Interesting point on the dis shrinks usually initially having lower clocks. Something I wasn't aware of. That makes these chips a bit more impressive and speaks well to the architecture changes. 7nm + could be where it's at. Kind of makes me hesitant to dive into this first batch of 7nm chips.

John Phillips 15 June 2019 16:42
since it's seeming that AMD has locked away much that allowed anyone to improve / play with a vega card it's hard'y a launch that's interesting.
A 15 June 2019 05:31
Ray tracing is a criteria I am looking at but a 2070 doesnt get good FPS with raytracing anyway and I am sure not paying $1800 for a GPU to run raytracing at a good framerate.
mountedpatrolman 15 June 2019 04:02
AMD needs to quit fucking around, and bring out something that finally bests big Green to get these prices under control. Surely AMD can come up with SOMETHING!
DBODIN 14 June 2019 19:46
Literally AMD: Hey lets make a card that can compete with Nvidia power and price! Also AMD: NOW HIT IT WITH A HAMMER.

I have some advice for people looking to buy these new RX 5700 GPUs. AMD is coming in higher with prices because Nvidia is going to be dropping their refresh of the RTX cards. You waited this long and you can wait a little longer because AMD is going to drop prices to compete.

The junction temp makes sense for us techies, but the actual heat coming off of Bob's computer is what makes sense to normies.23*C to 28*C is a ridiculous comparison though.I mean both are pretty damn cool.
IDXCO 13 June 2019 16:36
2:21 That could also mean the heat is poorly transfered to the heat sink

It's weird. Almost no games currently have any support for RTX, and even fewer have good support for RTX, but everyone is EXPECTING that, eventually, RTX will catch on, probably, so no one wants to take the risk of not having it if having it costs the same or almost the same. Any feature you get is more value for your dollar, at the end of the day. So AMD can't really compete directly with RTX if they don't have RTX, they can only undercut the pricing, which they should, because I for one don't give a shit about RTX and I don't think I ever will, I'd rather have higher framerates at a lower price.
ageofbogyo 13 June 2019 13:12
I love AMD, but marketing your goods with comparing it to the competitor is a loser move. Get back to me if I can buy a Full AMD laptop which runs new games fine and cool.
